Frequently Asked Questions
Sessions cost £60-£70. I request 48 hours notice to cancel sessions, or possibly, to rearrange a session. While we work together your time and day slot belongs to you and we will meet at the same time each week. I reserve the right to charge for missed sessions, if you haven't let me know 48 hours in advance. Clients can, of course, take an agreed number of weeks holiday from their slots per year and I will give you plenty of warning of any holidays that I take.
I have a diploma in Humanistic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute. I am a member of the BACP (the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical codes. My first degree was an MA in English Literature from the University of Edinburgh and I was previously a Creative Director at a Publishing Company.
I offer a free twenty minute introductory telephone conversation. It is an opportunity for us to find out a bit about each other and for you to decide if I am the right therapist for you. You will have the chance to tell me a little bit about yourself, how things are for you at the moment and what brings you to therapy. There is no need to do any preparation. It can feel a bit daunting - I will do my best to put you at your ease. We can then decide if therapy is the best way for you to seek help at the moment and if so, how we can work together. There will also be a chance for you to ask any questions you might have.
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long.
If we decide to work together, we will agree on a regular time to meet. This will be at the same time, on the same day, every week and will last 50 minutes. Having a regular, weekly session gives you the best chance of bringing about the changes you are seeking. Regular clients come for a period that varies from six weeks to over a year. But we will be led by what you feel is right for you.
