My Qualifications

  • I am a qualified humanistic counsellor with a first class BSc Hons degree in Humanistic Counselling and a diploma from the Metanoia Institute. I am a registered member of the BACP (the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and abide by their ethical codes.
  • The humanistic approach allows me to tailor my approach to each client, drawing on different theoretical approaches and techniques including Person-centred, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.
  • I've run a busy private practice for many years now and have seen clients with wide rang of troubles and experiences.
  • I work online and I am seeing clients face-to-face in Chiswick, W4 and in Ealing W5. I am experienced at helping clients facing a wide range of difficulties.
  • I have worked for a specialist pregnancy and baby loss charity in central London. Personal experience ignited my interest in this area, and I have since supported both men and women through miscarriage, still birth, infertility struggles, IVF and the personal impact that these can have, as well as the impact on relationships.
  • How experiences at school affect people in adult life is also an area I am interested in. I am particularly drawn to supporting people who feel that attending boarding school at a young age has changed the way they relate to those around them.

My Approach

  • My strength is building therapeutic relationships with my clients and creating a safe and non-judgemental space where they feel truly heard and understood, even when life is at its most difficult.
  • Clients feed back that my warm and accepting style has helped them feel safe enough to express, explore and navigate difficult feelings and events and go on to face challenging situations.
  • I draw on my experience and training to support clients to feel empowered to implement change and live life more fully. However, I’m not an expert on you or your story: that expert is you. Our sessions will be at your pace and guided by what you want to achieve. Whatever you bring will be treated respectfully and in confidence.

    TESTIMONIAL
"I started therapy to deal with the loss of my daughter who was born sleeping a few weeks before her due date. I did not expect any significant help as I knew nothing was going to reverse what happened.

But gradually it started to feel that sessions with Emma were providing some guiding light into the darkness where I was stuck. Obviously nothing can make this darkness magically disappear as nothing can bring my daughter back. But with this light I was then able to make my way through this journey, finding new ways of dealing with my grief. It helped various aspects to seem more manageable.

I am incredibly grateful to Emma for the great work she has done. I have found her approach highly professional, calm and gentle. It has truly helped me going through the toughest period in my life that I have ever experienced.."
